We are delighted to finally have Accelerated Reader up and running in our P5-P7 classes. Our children have always been avid readers but they’re thoroughly enjoying having an opportunity to bank the millions of words they read on a weekly basis.
The healthy competition in each of our classes is a joy to behold and we’re so proud of every one of our pupils for taking the time to read stories written by their favourite novelists. We’re loving the discussions that are ongoing in each of our rooms about the books we’re reading and the interest levels in this field are now through the roof.
Obviously, putting an initiative like this in place comes at a huge cost so once again, we’re indebted to the help and support we received from all of you who got involved with our successful Christmas Raffle. The money raised has helped cover this and our children are immediately benefitting from the introduction and implementation of Accelerated Reader in our school.
We’d like to say a huge congrats to all of the children who have already managed to achieve their certification levels that have been set by each of their teachers. To have so many children achieving these certifcates in such a short space of time is incredible and you are an inspiration to all of us. We are also thrilled to have seven word millionaires across our three classes and these children (pictured) are a complete credit to themselves and their families. Well done to Cathain, Meabh, Nathan, Éabha, Cian, Áine and Rosa-Mae - we’re incredibly proud of all you! 🙌🏼
Keep up the hard work, keep reading every day and night and keep striving to be the best you can be is the message to everyone. Let’s hope the trend continues and fingers crossed, we’ll have plenty more word millionaires before the school year is out.
