We were delighted to welcome Fr Damian to our school during the Triduum of prayer in our Parish last week. Fr Damian is a Dominican priest and told us all about his life as a priest in Kilkenny and about the life of a Dominican priest. The children were enthralled with his 'costume' and asked lots of questions about the significance of the colours, his robes/cape and the large wooden rosary beads that he has. He told us he can say the rosary at any time of the day.
Fr Damian told them about the important faith journey that they are on in their primary school years and about the privilege it is to receive the 3 sacraments in P4 and P7. He also told us that saying the rosary is such a special and important thing to do at any time of the year and about the importance of praying to our Mother Mary to watch over us and guide us each day of our lives.
We all went to mass on Thursday morning to celebrate the Pilgrims of Hope theme for this Jubilee year.
