P7 storytelling workshop with Steve Lally

5th Mar 2025
Our P7 pupils were treated to an unforgettable storytelling experience with the renowned author and storyteller, Steve Lally. His visit was filled with creativity, excitement, and a unique approach to storytelling that had our pupils completely engaged from start to finish.
Steve introduced the children to a simple yet effective way of crafting their own stories, guiding them to develop a beginning, middle, end, and a twist. Through a mix of scenarios and words, each child had the chance to express their imagination in a fun and accessible way. What made this experience even more fascinating was how, despite working from the same scenarios, every pupil produced a completely different and original story.
One of the highlights of the visit was Steve’s captivating retelling of how Cú Chulainn got his name. Using an array of instruments, including the didgeridoo, he brought the legendary tale to life, leaving the pupils mesmerised by both the story and the music.
It was a fantastic way to show how writing can be fun, exciting, and a powerful tool for expression. A huge thank you to Steve Lally for such an inspiring and enjoyable session – our pupils absolutely loved it!
